Obama covers review.

Saturday, November 29th, 2008

More or less, these are in order. I’m sure I missed one here or there. They were all done for The Week Magazine over the last 2 years. I think it’s cool to see the story condensed. It’s almost a historical record in covers. I think the first GW Bush caricatures I did followed the same line. Getting to know the new guy, high hopes, so he’s depicted as a super hero or wrestler. Then the flaws come out and you’re depicting him in less than flattering environments. I like drawing the super hero guys, hopefully Obama will be depicted like that more often! The last one is the current cover for The Week magazine that just came out Nov, 28, ‘08.

Sports Illustrated review.

Wednesday, November 26th, 2008

I don’t always get assignments that are exactly what I do. Here are a few that come close for Sports Illustrated. Most clients come to me with an idea they want. Most don’t consider it might be out of my “specialty”, ie. caricatures and cartoons. But I try and handle any curve ball that comes in. I try to be a good curve-ball hitter. I like to hit them out of the park. I always have home-field advantage in my studio. I’m rarely on the DL. I’m a DH for illustration. I load the bases with experience. My analogies have run a-foul.

Art show follow-up

The show was a blast despite a miserable cold drizzly day in Manhattan. I might have sold 2 pieces! Maybe I’ll break even on this car club thing yet.
